How a Shy Singer Found Her Voice on YouTube
“If someone told me years ago that I would have a singing career, I would’ve laughed at them.”
Eline Vera loved singing since she was a child. But she was petrified of being on stage.
Instead, she chose to stay behind the camera. She studied music production and created music soundtracks for movies and commercials with her boyfriend Erik.
To showcase their sound editing skills, the duo put their own spin on Pharrel’s “Happy” music video; they replaced the music with humorous sound effects like footsteps, car horns, or people singing under their breath. It's funny and awkward, making you feel like you're right there on the film set.
They uploaded it to YouTube and it went viral, now sitting at over 6 million views. They continued the same approach with other popular music videos, racking up millions of views and creating their own channel called WithoutMusic. Today, the channel has 2.6 million subscribers and 200+ videos.
Eline fell in love with YouTube, and this sparked something she didn’t expect: she felt the urge to create music again.
More languages, more problems
That’s when she started her own YouTube channel, creating 'multi-language' covers of popular songs (sometimes 31 languages in one cover) and mind-blowing impersonations of famous singers. The channel currently has 339k subscribers and 200+ videos.
“Getting into a creative ‘flow’ is so important in my workday.”
While Eline used to handle everything herself—editing, filming, thumbnail design—as her channel and brand deals grew, countless tasks consumed her time and disrupted her creative flow.
She realized it was time to outsource some of her workload. She found freelancers on Fiverr specializing in lyric translation, audio mixing, and music production.
“Delegating tasks was a game-changer. Now I can focus on what I do best, while also saving a lot of time.”
Finding the right collaborator
Eline's Fiverr collaborators have elevated her content and brought creative ideas to life that she couldn't have accomplished alone.
Eline is such a Fiverr fan that she joined their influencer program, monetizing her influence by promoting the brand.
For her popular cover of “Running Up That Hill,” Eline worked with five different music producers on Fiverr to create different genre versions - from cinematic to low-fi. Her audience voted for their favorite and she released a mini-album on Spotify with all the tracks.
“The program is a creator's dream. It might sound cheesy, but my personal experience has been nothing short of amazing. Fiverr offers so many features and services that can be showcased, so I’ll never run out of new video ideas.”
Embracing her fears and harnessing the power of collaboration, Eline Vera's journey proves that passion, creativity, and the right partnerships can unlock unexpected possibilities
